This is a good program for Internet explorer if that is the browser you use. I have used it before. I don't have it anymore I rarely use IE, and when I do its just to check my work on my websites to see how it looks on IE.

Thank You very much Tyler. I have copied and pasted link and sent it to myself.....I have to take a deep breath before I download anything. I am a scardy cat.

Yes I use Iternet Explorer 8 and Google Chrome

I have that mozlla Browser on standby if I need it.

But I know I must not use it at the same time as another Browser, because my computer would have a screaming fit.

Your welcome.

I use Mozilla Firefox exclusively. I have Internet Explorer 8 as well. I keep IE updated. You can't uninstall IE its part of windows, besides you wouldn't want to, you need IE for windows updates.

I can open both browsers at the same time and my computer has no problem with it. I don't usually do that. If I want to check something on Internet Explorer I close Firefox and then start IE. But I have had both browsers running at the same time with no problems.

SPYBOT located and destroyed a hotmail insertion that blocked my access to IE and thus, the net itself. I recommend it highly. Here's a tip: If you suddenly experience a problem that may be malware, etc., try to start your Spybot scan in the folders that are associated with the last action you took. F'rinstance: Windows Media Player, IE, Yahoo Mail, etc.

I recently downloaded Spybot. Did not find much, just the usuall like trackers in 5 browsers...I have just two browsers activated now,

The trackers were just collecting left clicks or right clicks or how many times a certain email is sent.

I had about 10 ...which after having ny hard drive for 6 years, that is quite good.

I do have a lot of things on this computer that I use.

I no doubt that Media Player might have a tracker, but it belongs to Microsoft.

I have Quick Time player for my Ipod

(did not download Real Player)

I have an Hotmail account but do not use it..I use incredimail. Do not get any spam with that otherwise crummie program
that has lots of glitches....but us girls live with them. No Choice. We like to do our creating in letter creator ect;

Anyway SpYBOT is known to be good. But have to update it before I run it,

Hotmail is owned and operated by Microsoft. I doubt very seriously Microsoft prevented you from accessing the Internet with malware or a "hotmail insertion". Part of there business is putting people ON the Internet not installing things on your computer to keep you off.

I can say without hesitation Hotmail is not responsible for putting anything on your computer that prevented you from opening Internet Explorer or any other browser.

Hi Tyler

Where does M.S.N. come into it?

Hotmail is owned and operated by Microsoft. (I did not know that)

I am told that Firefox is used mainly by Americans...

I find Google Chrome O.K. Suppose to be more secure than the old Google Browser and faster.

Did not find any difference.

If I visited all the Porn Sites I would collect many Trackers that would slow my Computer down and they might start worrying me for joining there sex dates sites. lol ... Any way they don't know what straight sex is.....
Mind you I don't mind being shocked once in a while.

Hmmm. Well, when Spybot found the two offending folders,I opened them. What I saw was a page of words, letters, and symbols. In the text was the word "html" several times. Also were clearly written instructions for my browser to be re-directed to what I found to be a phony security download site. I also saw language denying me access to IE. You all know this stuff better than me,I know, but I saw what I saw.

Here's what would happen: I would boot up and immediately get my Yahoo page with a message that IE could not connect and to click on the attached URL. When I clicked on it, I got a message like "That URL is no longer available". I absolutely could not get past this dead end. I ran Spybot. It took a LONG time, but I got the two folders identified and looked at.They were in my Windows Media player files and I'm sure I picked them up at a porn site. I then hit the "destroy these files" button. Problem solved.

Good, glad you got rid of it and the problem is fixed. Yeah porn sites are notorious for spyware and malware, among other bad things. Sounds like you watched a porn video and it had something in the download and installed in windows media player, or a wmp temp file.

" Sounds like you watched a porn video..." Exactly. When I clicked on the thumbnail, I got a message "In order to view this video you must download Windows Media Player". I thought "I already have that,so what's the harm?". I learned to NEVER download a MSN or any other exe program except those available at a publicly available site such as LAN or REAL, etc.

Hi

If I download an Exe file I run my A.V.G. Virus checker on it, before I open it.
But that does not necessarly find Trackers.

EXE Files are notorious for viruses also.

media player comes with windows XP package do not know about windows 7
(application from Microsoft)

You usually get updates with that.
