What a night!
It's always exciting to spend an evening with the President of the United States and a room full of pumped-up supporters. But last night, I felt a special electricity in the air.
The President spoke of "a future where health care is available for every American, and we're driving the costs of health care down for every American."
That future is quickly becoming the present here in Nevada.
Already, young adults under age 26 are able to stay on their parents' insurance. Already, insurance companies have been barred from discriminating against Nevada kids with pre-existing conditions. Already, Nevada small businesses are receiving tax credits to help them pay for health care, and Nevada seniors are receiving checks to help close the Medicare "donut hole."
There's more help on the way. And last night was a great reminder of why we need to work hard in this campaign to make sure we don't turn back the clock on our progress.
My opponent stands for the ways of old - for a health care system where the insurance companies are in charge and Nevada families pay the price.
President Obama and I stand for affordable care and a healthy America. And judging from the buzz in the room last night, we're not alone.
Thank you so much for being part of this campaign.
