Saying Grace In A Restaurant
>
> Last week, I took my children to a restaurant.
> My six-year-old son asked if he could say grace.
>
> As we bowed our heads he said, 'God is good, God is
> great. Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you
> more if Mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And Liberty and
> justice for all! Amen!'
>
> Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby, I
> heard a woman
> remark, 'That's what's wrong with this
> country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking
> God for ice cream! Why, I never!'
>
> Hearing this, my son burst into tears and asked me,
> 'Did I do it wrong? Is
> God mad at me?'
>
> As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific
> job, and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly
> gentleman approached the table.
>
> He winked at my son and said, 'I happen to know that
> God thought that was a great prayer.'
>
> 'Really?' my son asked.
>
> 'Cross my heart,' the man replied.
>
> Then, in a theatrical whisper, he added (indicating the
> woman whose remark had started this whole thing), 'Too
> bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is
> good for the soul sometimes.'
>
> Naturally, I bought my kids ice cream at the end of the
> meal. My son stared at his for a moment, and then did
> something I will remember the rest of m y life.
>
> He picked up his sundae and, without a word, walked over
> and placed it in front of the woman. With a big smile he
> told her, 'Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for
> the soul sometimes; and my soul is good already.'
>
> The End
>
> I love this story!

> Sometimes, we all need some ice cream.
> I hope God sends you some
> Ice Cream today!

I'd tell the little boy if he set that ice cream in front of me and said that, I'd tell him "No, you prayed for it YOU eat it!".

It was a cute story but I see the womans point that complained about the way the boy prays too. But of course in typical fashion the little boy gets the pity of the elders, and in doing so, paints the women 'black' and in the wrong.

Tyler, the story in my opinion, is he is just a child, and was acting on impulse as to what he was taught at home, the prayer was a childs meaning, something he may have not fully understood, in my opinion the woman should have never ridiculed the child, when she did she ridiculed the parents, and the meaning of prayer to the child, she was wrong.. the child though held no malice he decided to give her the ice cream which in my eyes made the child be a better one in this incident.. I agree prayer is not meant to ask for riches or favors..

I don't think a child has full concept of that until a certain age..some adults still pray like that LOl Just my opinion..
I thought it was a cute story.. maybe the woman should have remained impassive ,AND quiet..

I don't think the woman should have said anything either, but that doesn't mean shes wrong. The boy (in my opinion) was patronizing the woman. I'd of told him his ice cream did NOT come from God he was tricked into believing that, and that his icecream really came from the kitchen. I would go on to tell him God doesn't do ice cream.,,etc..lmao

geeze, i got that email like twice in the last few years, im glad now i did not post it, lol, but its most likely a fabricated story, and nothing that actually happened, but it could have, but most stories like that are fabricated, but i liked it anyway,, i just dont see a person like the lady making a negative comment like that in a public place, but its just my opinion, but ppl like it thinking its true and if it is i like it, OTA

i dont want to get a bunch of crap started, lol, but when i was a child or very young teenager, i dont think i have posted this , i may have, but it was almost christmas, and i have always been even as a child very anti drinking. its just something built inside me and i cant explain it, well i was in sunday school i still forget what age, but not very old, we were in the room, with the male teacher, i raised my hand, and made the statement . i dont understand, why at christmas, (celebrated for me as the birth of Jesus), i said i dont understand why ppl seem to drink more at this time of year than any other. or it seemed to me they did, some of my uncles did. well the teacher, a man like 40 something, right there broke down and started to cry very hard. when he got his composure back. he said as i think i remember he said he once did that , i think he once probably had a problem with drinking he also said, , so it touched him me saying it out of the blue as a kid,,. but i still wonder. but no one in my family drinks so i never see it at christmas partys, just a thought.. and just my feelings, that are mine and mine alone i know, anyway im glad i said it..ihave always been outspoken about that subject , its just built into me. but im glad. but i have many weaknesses, i dont work on enough, that is just one i dont have to fight, but i have others,, take care
i also realize ppl celebrate christmas for reasons that are not my reasons,so i know all that, and that is fine, and i dont mean if others feel different its wrong for them, this is just me.
