I enjoy reading about different places one visits, or just places in general

Low Country
The Coastal Plain of the Atlantic Ocean in South Carolina is called The Low Country by the folks who live there. Itís a place of rare beauty and friendly people who have a natural way of making you feel at home. Charleston is the Capitol of the Low Country, a beautiful city where itís easy to imagine that time has been on vacation for the last few centuries , and that you might just meet Rhett Butler or Scarlet OíHara strolling down one of the oak-lined streets.Charleston has more restaurants per capita than any city I know. Although you can get anything from Kosher to Chinese Dim Sum, the attraction for many is the Low Country cuisine. This flavorful, hearty cooking is characterized by the use of the abundance of seafood and rice that are the main staples of the natives of the tidal plane. The African and Caribean influences of the Gullah, a group of descendants of former slaves who live on the barrier islands flavor low country cooking and give the dishes some of their colorful names. Gullah ladies can be found at the Market in Charleston, weaving sea grass baskets much like their grandmothers and great grandmothers did, and their accents are sheer music to hear.
