I don't think any one person is capable of turning anything around, it would take an army of intelligent people striving for the same goal to turn something around, and quite frankly its hard to get 2 people in Washington to agree on anything, so I don't foresee a end to our major problems right now. Just grin and bare it is all I can suggest..

well i really dont understand what u mean,, things will get better, they alway do and they seem to be working on it , donald trump, said bush is on the correct track and paulson and one other guy i forgot his name but u have seen him,,,it will take time for credit to slowly start back up, but on the news they had postive words that things seem to be starting to show signs of just the beginning of what was a normal way of business, in banks, but the question i dont understand, it will have to be the next president to turn things around, but they may already be starting, , as this will take several months to gradually get better. i think the last month was better than expected on growth, but im off the track, who ever wins will have to turn it around, we will never know if the other candidate would have done a better job, but since obama seems to have it wraped up unless something changes, obama with a dem house probably like 250 or close, and dem senate, the only real question is will the senate have 40 or 41 republican senators, it takes 60 votes to bring a bill to closure for a vote, if the dems have 60 or 61 votes, i forget which, they can do whatever they want, no one can stop them, so all we can do is hope for the best, they just now said on the news the( index of leading economic indicators )was on the rise for the first time in 5 month, all we can do is hope, but they admit we have some tough months ahead, the dems and repubs, are dickering on a new stimulus package u know the check, but this time other things not to us but to help business and banks also, the dems want a bigger one than the repubs. the feds are poised to lower interest rates again if needed, the stock market said today things seemed more normal,in how things went, (now watch it fall tomorrow, lol), but today was a good day,, i still have money in a ira and 401, all u can do is ride it out..

im sorry gypsy, only one will win so we will never know what the other guy would have done, and u know they pick many ppl to be in their cabinet , that is very important, probably just as important as who is the president,

actually fanny and freddie failure had the most to do with it, and its on tape and transcripts, where barney frank and also chris dodd , and chris dodd took more money from fanny and freddie in election contibutions than anyone else, and u know who was second, it was our favorite guy barack obama, was number 2,,but barney and chris,i think chris was chairman of the committee, , had all to do with not letting them put more controls on fanny may and freddie mack, as the letter i had posted that maccain was one of the main ppl on the letter asking for more controls on fanny, and freddie, the letter was to my senator, richard shelby, and a dem,in committee i would have to go read but it think the dems were in the majority in the commitee that handled this,,hey check out my signature leroy obama with his sideways hat, lmao

Well of course the B word is going to get blamed, over looking all the Dems in the House and Senate deciding critical issues. This country won't be happy till we have another Dem in the white House and in 4 years they will be sick of him. Gypsy I hope you are aware of what you will lose with Dem in command. We are screwed if Obama wins.
Obama is out of touch with the working class..his remark How many plumbers do you know who make a 1/4 million a year is ridiculous. A plumber can make that and more on one subdivision, in taxed money. Lets see how the hidden cuts in benifits work for you in a couple years.
Best hope you have a very well protected nest egg, you will need it to survive for the next 4 years for sure.

Fact Check: Did Obama get second-most money from Freddie and Fannie?
Posted: 10:30 PM ET

The Statement: At a presidential debate Tuesday, October 7 in Nashville, Tennessee, Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain said Democratic opponent Sen. Barack Obama and other Democrats resisted regulating mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which ultimately collapsed and had to be taken over by the government. "Meanwhile, they were getting all kinds of money in campaign contributions. Sen. Obama was the second-highest recipient of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac money in history — in history," he said.

Get the facts!

The Facts: Federal law forbids candidates from receiving money directly from companies. The nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics tracks donations from employees of various companies. The center's list of contributions from Fannie and Freddie employees places Obama second. Ahead of him is Sen. Chris Dodd, Democratic chairman of the Senate Banking Committee.

The total listed for Obama is $126,349 — a tiny fraction of the approximately $390 million his campaign has raised, according to the center. The list shows McCain has received a total of $21,550 from Fannie and Freddie employees. The list includes donations of at least $200 from those who receive paychecks from Fannie and Freddie. It also includes donations from political action committees — pooled contributions from employees.

The report spans from 1989-2008 — just a portion of the time since Fannie Mae went private in 1968 and Freddie Mac was created in 1970.

The New York Times has published a separate list looking at contributions from "directors, officers, and lobbyists for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac" for the 2008 campaign cycle. That list — using figures from the Federal Election Commission — shows McCain receiving $169,000, while Obama received only $16,000.

VERDICT: Misleading. No donations actually came from the companies. One method of measuring employee contributions does put Obama second overall, but another, for the current election cycle, show

CLEARLY, there are major differences between the economic policies of Senators Barack Obama and John McCain. Mr. McCain wants more tax cuts for the rich; Mr. Obama wants tax cuts for the poor and middle class. The two men also disagree on health care, energy and many other topics.

Such differences are hardly surprising. Democrats and Republicans have followed different approaches to the economy for as long as there have been Democrats and Republicans. Longer, actually. Remember Hamilton versus Jefferson?

Many Americans know that there are characteristic policy differences between the two parties. But few are aware of two important facts about the post-World War II era, both of which are brilliantly delineated in a new book, “Unequal Democracy,” by Larry M. Bartels, a professor of political science at Princeton. Understanding them might help voters see what could be at stake, economically speaking, in November.

I call the first fact the Great Partisan Growth Divide. Simply put, the United States economy has grown faster, on average, under Democratic presidents than under Republicans.

The stark contrast between the whiz-bang Clinton years and the dreary Bush years is familiar because it is so recent. But while it is extreme, it is not atypical. Data for the whole period from 1948 to 2007, during which Republicans occupied the White House for 34 years and Democrats for 26, show average annual growth of real gross national product of 1.64 percent per capita under Republican presidents versus 2.78 percent under Democrats.

The New York Times is one of the most biased papers in the country and openly supports Obama, since it is privately owned it feels it doesn't have to research articles just blast them in false headlines. Not a very reliable source for news info, if you want the truthful story.

I guess Grand Old Party is a distinctive title and has stood for years. If you get your wish we'll see how it works for you. I think you will be sadly disappointed and stuck with a worse mess for 4 more years.
