it is good to be able to voice ones opinion, and not be attacked personally..well we are learning

That's not always the case, take the election for example. it gets VERY personal. But I think I get your point, you're happy you can post your opinion and not be attacked, well, there are no guarantees when you post on a forum that your opinion won't get debated, attack is quite different than a debate, and neither are guaranteed not to happen when you express an opinion in a public and open place. All people have different ways of getting their point across, some more tactful than others. So always remember that people have their own way of expressing themselves and you never know what you'll receive as a reply.

Damn Tyler you know I was thinking that and you beat me to getting it posted. A little mental telepathy going here.

30 more minutes and you wouldn't have been able to edit your post. I know what you meant before, editing your post changes nothing.

ahh I see, so is there a problem?

Only when someone changes their post so dramatically that it makes the reply to it seem out of context, then yes, we have a problem, and is why the 30 minute edit is in place, perhaps I should make it less as it seems 30 minutes is too long.

No, when you changed your mind and deleted your post that rosco was in the process of replying to and consequently had your post locked in his quote reply has nothing to do with the edit feature. I am talking about when you edited your post just now here in this topic. I'll refresh your memory, you were thanking me for providing a place to post that you can express your opinion without being attacked in an attempt to ward off anyone that might attempt to go after your opinion aggressively, and I told you in my first post above what I thought of that. You reap what you write Gypsy and you are not going to scare the poster here into believing I will not allow them to debate you in a fashion that you like to call an attack. I don't subscribe to that theory. Not every reply that conflicts with yours is an attack. Try to relax and think clearly before you post. Obviously you are having second thoughts as your edited and deleted posts give testament to.

Think it over first. :)

ok,, I am trying to understand Tyler, i deleted my post with in at least 3 minutes or less, he must have copied it immediately, then waited thirty minutes to copy and answer, and my post had been deleted, for reasons i already stated,, but I do understand if i don't want REPRUCUSSIONS don't post~~ ok got it~

I should also mention that the reason your first post doesn't show you edited it is becuase no one had replied to it yet, it only shows the post has been edited if it has been replied to first. When I made my first post here I had already read your post when you mentioned my name, then I decided later to reply to it even after you had already edited my name out of your post.

What rosco did sounds to me like he clicked the quote button on your post then let it sit their while he went to go eat. Whatever.

As I read through this thread, I had to chuckle at myself as I thought about some of the lessons I have learned from posting on public boards.

I came full circle and now view public posting as being the same as having a conversation in a check out lane with all sorts of people listening.

I have learned not to type/say anything that I would not say in front of a group of people, whom I know will immediately react to my words. There are a lot of reasons for that. The valued reason is that I have never found an opinion worth hurting/ losing a friend over. (Or having the crap beaten out of myself in a super market parking lot!)

WE have all *sorts* of people who read these boards and in that sorted bunch there is always going to be someone to take the post to task. That is what we chance when we post on a public board. It WILL happen from time to time. Granted, it is easier to try to slip by a clever remark when we see only words, but nevertheless, it often unfolds into a big misunderstanding and damaged feelings.

Although, I am not easily offended, I still do not like to create differences and it is the little things create them. There are many times I have had the urge to make some smart ass remark to things I hear in public. After all, it is just another opinion that disagrees with mine. I haven't see anything to be gained from it when the opinion doesn't change anything in the long haul.

Of course, this is just Figi's way of viewing things . . . . I am peace loving woman, but I ain't easy to deal with if I get my nose skinned good and proper either. No

"Resemble them" in physical appearance or in behaviour? Your style cannot be mistaken for anyone. . . not to worry! lol!

Gypsy, there are times when each of us can be wrong, I have tried to figure out your reason for starting this thread. I am sure you had good reason, but the subject seems almost like an invitation to conflict. As has been said open forums are free game for all opinions , how a person chooses to respond can vary. If everyone agreed in every post this would be one boring place, but no two opinions are alike, even additional input keeps the ball rolling. Whether it be political views or health matters we all have our basis for discussion and our beliefs in the issues at hand.

SSC no it was not meant for a conflict, it was and expression of feeling good about being able voice ones opinion, a freedom, and a compliment on being able to do so with out anger and name calling~ it was meant as and expression..` i think though that all what is written here is a bit of conflict, like figi said we probably would not voice so openly if we all were face to face~

Voicing openly face to face would be no problem for me, as long as I could do it in my native tongue.
The reason for being so timid on the internet is, because the written language is always one I am not accustomed to speak.

Maybe some would not be so verbal face to face, I agree, but personally if I have something to say, then katy bar the door I will express my opinion. Writing words of rebuttal to a faceless individual is much easier for some than a one on one conflict of opinions, but I am not one to be intimidated for any reason. If I don't reply to a subject matter usually means I don't have a clue , or I am not interested in that particular thought. We have some outstanding thoughts going here, from several different cultural backgrounds. We have the right of freedom of speech. Just imagine what our world would be without that privilege.
